Gilson College campus traces its historic roots to western and northern Melbourne, originally inhabited by various clans of the Wurungeri tribe. With European settlement, the region progressed through distinct phases including early exploration in the 1800s, to agricultural expansion in the mid-19th century.
Gilson College's story began in the region with the purchase of our Taylors Hill property by the Adventist Church in 1987 and the mission to establish a beacon of quality Christian education in western Melbourne. Our first classes commenced at Taylors Hill in 1988, marking the beginning of a legacy grounded in academic excellence and spiritual development. With the acquisition of our Mernda property in 2012, our footprint expanded and classes began there just seven weeks later.
Today, Gilson College remains a testament to our original mission. We maintain our enduring commitment to give every student a caring and inspiring educational experience. We continue to champion every student along their learning journey and foster a community that values Christian character and the pursuit of excellence.
