Each family that has a student enrolled in Gilson College is required to make a positive contribution to our school community by being using their time or talents in some way. This involvement can take place through a variety of activities. Some parents assist in the classroom with reading, others help out on excursions, some are a part of our Parents and Friends Association, while others help out in the College canteen.
The College runs working bees where parents can fulfil the community involvement requirement. For those families that find it very difficult to be involved with this requirement then there is the alternative of paying into the College maintenance cooperative. Essentially the requirement is 32 hours per year (8 hours per term) or $400 in lieu of the community involvement program.
