Parent Engagement

Parent Engagement Program (PEP)

Each family that is successful in attaining a place for the child at Gilson College is required to be involved in the school community. This involvement can take place through a variety of activities. Some parents assist in the classroom with reading, others help out on excursions, some are a part of our Parents and Friends Association, while others help out in the College canteen.

The College runs working bees where parents can fulfil the community involvement requirement. For those families that find it very difficult to be involved with this requirement then there is the alternative of paying into the College maintenance cooperative. Essentially the requirement is 32 hours per year (8 hours per term) or $400 in lieu of the community involvement program.
